Use the summer to get a head start on preparing for student employment in your first semester.
Student employment at Occidental is managed by the Office of Human Resources. Whether you have work-study or are simply interested in finding a job on campus, Human Resources is your primary resource for available positions, hiring processes, and employment policies.
Work-Study Eligibility and Financial Aid
If you’ve been awarded work-study as part of your financial aid package, you may be eligible to earn money through on-campus employment during the academic year. To understand how work-study works, including eligibility and how funds are applied, visit the Financial Aid website.
First-Year Student Employment Preparation (STEP) Program
The STEP program, offered by the Hameetman Career Center, provides eligible first-year students with work-study the opportunity to apply for select on-campus jobs.
If you’re eligible, STEP can be a helpful way to get started with on-campus employment early in your first semester. While participation does not guarantee a job, it offers additional access to opportunities and preparation.
To apply for STEP in the fall, you must complete two required workshops:
- Resume Writing
- Interview Preparation
These workshops are offered in late summer.
