All of the details you need to know to call Occidental “home”!
The Residential Education and Housing Services (REHS) department is dedicated to making sure that your stay at Occidental is safe, comfortable, and enriching.
Housing options for first-year students
REHS has several housing options for our first-year students. Review them below to familiarize yourself:
First-year residence halls
Most first-year students live in one of five residence halls that make up the First-Year Experience (FYE) Area. Visit the First-Year Experience webpage to read up on these halls and take a video tour. You will be assigned to a hall based upon your room type and roommate preferences in the housing application.
Themed Living Communities and other special interest housing
Themed Living Communities (TLCs) are themed residence houses that provide intentional programming and community-building opportunities for students with shared identities. Several of our TLCs are open to first-year students:
- Baldwin House
- Women’s Scholars
- Multicultural
If you are interested in applying for a TLC or gender-inclusive housing as a first-year student, you can indicate this on your housing application. Space is limited in each of the communities; you will be notified when you receive your housing assignment in August.
Complete the housing form
Before you can log in to eRezlife, you will need to activate your oxy.edu account. The Fall 2025 housing application is now open and will and close on June 13. If you do not complete the application before the deadline, you will be automatically assigned a room and roommate(s) by REHS.
Please review the steps below or consult these step-by-step instructions (with images) to complete your housing application. We recommend that you complete and submit the form as soon as you are able.
- to submit your housing form using your oxy.edu credentials* (the same login used for your myOxy account).
- Select “My Housing Profile,” confirm your information is correct, and save.
- Go back to the toolbar and select “Housing Overview” and click “Apply Now” to access the Fall 2025 Housing Application.
- Complete the Fall 2025 Housing Application.
- Read the Terms & Conditions on the confirmation page, including the housing licensing agreement, then click “Submit.”
- If you wish to request a preferred roommate, go back to the toolbar and select “Roommate Groups.” Create a group name and enter your desired roommate’s Oxy email address. Members of the group will receive an email asking to confirm their placement in the group. (Note: While we try to honor all requests, room type and roommate preference are not guaranteed. You will be placed in what is available at the time housing assignments are made. For example, a roommate group of two people does not guarantee a double room, you may have a third person added to form a triple.)
*If you do not have your credentials OR if you are having trouble logging in, you will need to contact Oxy’s Information Technology Services (ITS) department at: helpdesk@oxy.edu or by calling (323) 259-2880 during College business hours.
Disability accommodations
If you require housing accommodations due to a documented medical or psychiatric disability, you should complete that step next. Please review the Housing Accommodations Policy on the Disability Services website and then submit the disability accommodation request form found at the bottom of that page. The deadline for incoming students to apply for housing accommodations is June 13. Please note that while Disability Services accepts housing accommodation requests throughout the year, any student who is approved after the deadline will be added to the waitlist, and will be placed whenever space becomes available.
Room and roommate(s) assignments
REHS spends a majority of the summer reviewing all incoming student housing applications, determining room assignments, and matching roommates. You can expect to receive your room assignment and roommate(s) information via email directly from REHS in early August.
