Religious Advisor to the Newman Center

Chris Negri is the Lay Religious Advisor and Program Coordinator for Catholic students at Occidental College. He helps coordinate scriptural study, retreats, and social events for the campus Catholic community. A native Angeleno, Chris has a BA from UC Riverside and Master's degrees from Loyola Marymount University and the University of Southern California, as well as a certificate in theology from Sewanee: The University of the South. In his work outside Oxy, Chris was a K-12 special education teacher and has worked in policy and programs for a number of nonprofit organizations. His current, full-time job is as lead on state and federal policy for the California state domestic violence coalition, representing California domestic violence survivors and service providers in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. He currently lives in Eagle Rock, very close to campus, and spends his free time swimming and caring for his two young sons.
