Tyrone Davis is a director and producer whose work spans professional theatre, new-play development, and arts leadership.
Davis previously served as Associate Artistic Director at Center Theatre Group, where he helped oversee programming across the Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, and Kirk Douglas Theatre, and as Community Artistic Director at American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, where he commissioned, developed, and directed new work. He is also Associate Executive Director of Support Black Theatre, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit service organization dedicated to strengthening the Black theatre sector.
Selected directing credits include The Brothers Size (Associate Director, Geffen Playhouse), Mudhole by Kerry Coddett (Netflix Is a Joke Festival), Crack. Rumble. Fly. by Aleshea Harris, Top of the Pyramid by Nikkole Salter, Snakes by Chris Webb, Black Butterflies by Darren Canady, and August Wilson’s Two Trains Running and Radio Golf.
Selected producing credits include Slave Play by Jeremy O. Harris (dir. Robert O’Hara), Blues for an Alabama Sky by Pearl Cleage (dir. Phylicia Rashad), King James by Rajiv Joseph (dir. Kenny Leon), Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 by Anna Deavere Smith (dir. Gregg Daniel), and Fetch Clay, Make Man by Will Power (dir. Debbie Allen, in association with LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill Company).
Davis holds an M.F.A. in Acting from California Institute of the Arts and a B.A. in Theatre from California State University, Northridge.
